The Cadiz Swim Series
The Cadiz Swim Series is a succession of sea and dam swim races
to promote open water swimming and to raise funds for good causes.
Each swim takes place on a public holiday specifically to celebrate
these significant days and South Africa's history and heritage.
Each event aims to raise awareness of the significance of these
public holidays and to give back by raising funds for causes which
are related to these public holidays. Cadiz Swim Series rules and
regulations are in line with those of the CLDSA and Channel
rules.
The Cadiz Freedom Swim
The Cadiz Freedom Swim is one of the toughest, most
extreme long-distance cold water sea swim races in the world -
7.5km from Robben Island to Blouberg, Cape Town. This channel is
renowned for its bitterly cold water (between 9 and 14 degrees) and
strong, unpredictable currents. The race
begins at 10am from Murray's Bay on World Heritage Site, Robben
Island, and ends on the beach in Big Bay,
Bloubergstrand. There are two categories, solo
and relay. The swim raises funds for the Vista Nova
School for children with special learning needs in Cape
Town.

The Cadiz Swim series identifies projects to support through the
Cadiz Open Water Swimming Development Trust. This trust identifies
disadvantaged swimmers and swimming programmes and provides
sustainable support in an attempt to nurture and promote new talent
and to help bring swimming to disadvantaged communities. Click here to read more about the Trust.

Cadiz Milkwood Run
21 km half marathon; 10km run and a 5km fun run.
Cadiz is proud to be the lead sponsor of the Cadiz Milkwood for
at least the next three years. The Cadiz Milkwood has become a
legend on the Cape running calendar. It is set in the picturesque
Kommetjie area. Athletes enjoy twenty-one beautiful kilometres of
the western flank of the Cape Peninsula of Cape Town. A feature of
the race is the "medal" that all finishes receive - an indigenous
plant to keep reminding you of your achievement for years to come.
Cadiz Milkwood is green. No littering is allowed on the route.
The charities this event supports are the Great Commission
United - a group of people who do first-class work in the Langa
Township keeping kids playing sport and away from drugs and gangs.
Development runners from many clubs are encouraged to participate
and their fees are waived.
